Title: Mercury and Schools

URL: http://www.health.state.ny.us/nysdoh/environ/hsees/mercury/index.htm

Abstract: Mercury and schools is a risky combination! A packet of nine new brochures has been developed to help school personnel identify mercury sources and reduce or remove the risk of a mercury spill. Mercury may be found in many different places throughout a school, and a spill can result in health risks and costly clean-up efforts. The materials were developed in cooperation with many partners interested in a healthy school environment and are intended to provide practical and cost-effective strategies. Nice brochures for schools have been created for nine different audiences: Superintendents, Principals, and School Boards, Science Teachers, Buildings and Grounds Superintendents, Health and Safety Committees, School Nurses, facility-wide inventories, and disposal. Developed for New York Schools, these can be applicable in all regions of the country.
