Title: Determination of Moles of Copper and Iron in Reaction
Abstract: This is the classic iron nails activity with a slightly different twist. Instead of using excess chemicals that produce large quantities of toxic ions, a greener process is offered. The activity requires three lab sessions (over 3 days). The objectives are to determine moles of iron used and copper produced in a single replacement reaction and to determine the ratio of moles of iron to moles of copper in order to generate a balanced equation for the reaction.
